Course Overview

Our BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is a two-year fully funded qualification. The course offers specific training in preparation for a successful career in the performing arts. The timetable has been designed to reflect that of performing arts courses in further education; incorporating academic classes amongst practical classes, allowing for the full experience of an artist in training.

Students are comprehensively trained across the three art forms – singing, acting & dancing; pushing their skillsets to gain their maximum potential.
The cohort will undertake 4 modules across two years:
Module A – ‘Performing Arts Skills Development’ – Within this module there are 3 units, which focus on personal training development and progression.
Module F – ‘The Performing Arts Industry’ takes a look at social networking, employment opportunities, various career avenues, branding and more.
Module G – ‘Personal Performing Arts Profile’ – This module focuses on personal development in your second year of training. More specifically, on personal statements, CVs, show reels and goals.
Module H – ‘Collaborative Performing Arts Project’ – The final module of our BTEC Performing Arts Course will see students work towards their final showcase, exploring both creative and technical roles. This will include an insight to Choreography, Producing, Scheduling…the list goes on.

Each academic year is concluded by a showcase that students will be marked on as contribution to their overall BTEC grade.

The whole BTEC qualification is internally assessed.

Programme teachers are all highly trained and practiced in their particular field, ensuring delivery of top quality tuition. Our teachers have followed different pathways in their professional experience and as a faculty offer extensive & varied knowledge and expertise.

What is the course?

The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education...

…In addition, employers and professional bodies have been involved and consulted in order to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice should learners choose to enter employment directly in the performing arts sector.

The qualification provides the knowledge, skills and understanding that will prepare learners for further study or training.

Learners taking this qualification will study two mandatory learning and teaching modules:
– Skills Development

The mandatory content allows learners to concentrate on the development of their technical performance skills and creation techniques and relate them to the performing arts industry.

On top of the BTEC qualification itself, KTCo have designed a drama-school style timetable that will give students the full performing arts experience. From commercial dance to acting through song, performance jazz, conditioning through to acting for screen.
