Kristian Thomas Dance Company;
The Kristian Thomas Dance Company; was founded in 2019 by Miss Rebecca Wrench and Mr Kristian Cunningham as an extension of the established East Midlands Performing Arts company, The Kristian Thomas Company;
Within our school we aim to nurture and develop dancers through technical dance training while inspiring our pupils with the excitement and fun of theatre performance.
Our curriculum includes the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus, which allows our pupils to enjoy learning a classical art through a variety of music and choreographic styles. Children can begin learning with the RAD from The Dance to your own tune syllabus as young as 3 years old and progress through pre-primary and Primary and on to the eight graded examination syllabi. There may be an option at discretion of the teachers to study the vocational grades either as an extension or while simultaneously studying the mainstream grades.
We provide modern Jazz and Tap classes, which will follow the ISTD syllabi, again, allowing our pupils to develop their understanding of each dance style through technical training to a variety of music and choreographic styles.
Classes will progress through the syllabi toward an examination. Although not compulsory, students will be encouraged to take part in class awards or examinations in order to reward their hard work and commitment.
Our close affiliation to the Kristian Thomas Company offers the opportunity to perform at various points throughout the year and put the students’ training to practice on stage in excellent productions.
As Miss Rebecca has progressed through the RAD syllabus herself and onto professional level dancing, as has Miss Lydia with her own ISTD modern and tap training; their teaching is through the understanding of what their pupils need in order to excel in performance. However, at our school we want our dance lessons to provide joy and happiness while gaining the work ethic and discipline our young students will benefit from in general life. We are keen to support our pupils through their training both as dancers and as young people.
